Rock Hill Golf Club started when a group of 13 golfing friends got together in 1964 to buy 438 acres on one of the highest points on Long Island. The dream? Build a welcoming, challenging public course that was open to all. One of the original members of that group was architect Frank Duane—who would go on to work with Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Arnold Palmer on some of their most famous projects.
Duane designed Rock Hill to be a tough-but-fair test—7,050 yards and par-71 from the back tees. Some of Duane’s other designs include Kapalua (home of the PGA Tour’s Tournament of Champions), Bellerive Country Club (1965 U.S. Open and 1992 and 2018 PGA Championships) and Half Moon Bay Links. Duane’s design has stood the test of time, and Rock Hill continues to present a fine challenge to players of all ability levels. 2023 NYS Open Champion Peicheng Chen holds the current course record of 63 for men while Zihan Xu holds the ladies record with a 64.
Rock Hill’s ownership group has grown—and includes many descendants of those original founders—but the driving spirit remains the same after more than 50 years. Rock Hill offers a first-class public course experience, exceptional conditioning and a world-class instruction program with Golf Digest 50 Best Teacher Michael Jacobs. Rock Hill is the go-to location for charitable outings and tournaments in Manorville and beyond, with ample practice areas and parking and a dedicated catering operation headquartered in a space with commanding views of the Atlantic Ocean.
Come see why Rock Hill consistently ranks with Bethpage and Montauk Downs as one of the top public course destinations on Long Island—and the premier public course value in all of Suffolk County.
